You want a
migration code ? Dream On.
The department that issues
mac numbers at BT is the 'Options' team.
The system they use to generate the Migration Code (mac number) is
called their ‘Eco-system’.
The Eco-system seems to spend more (much more) time out of service than
it does in service.
This is one way that BT avoid giving people mac numbers and forces them
to remain with BT.
I recently spoke to a girl in the ‘options team’ who had not been
able to give anyone a migration code for more than three weeks, due to
the ‘unavailability’ of their eco-system.
It almost defies belief that BT think they can get away with their
Dirty Tricks campaign to stop
customers leaving, but the toothless and disinterested regulator (Ofcom)
make complaining very difficult.
Ofcom say on there website all problems should be directed to the
current broadband supplier i.e. BT, and simply speaking to a human at BT
is difficult enough, speaking to a human with any authority is damn near
impossible.
Think about this; In January 2007, BT had 8.7Million broadband
users.
It is inevitable that some of them would want to move to another isp
(internet service provider).
This is called churnage and it occurs in all businesses, especially the telecom/internet
industry.
If we are very Conservative and say just 1% of their customers
want to move, that's 87,000 people who are trying to get a migration code
from BT at any one time.
It's no wonder BT will resort to any method to keep them.
