The BT Broadband Speed Question?
If it
wont work fast, why not reduce the speed?
But if it
will work fast, why not let it  ?
Time and time we see examples if BT not doing the logical thing, i.e giving  customers a robust broadband service

The incompetence of BT Broadband.
from Mrs Lisa Wilson, Witham

I have since Sept of this year been trying to set up broadband from my home address for business purposes,( online recruitment) and have experienced what can only be described as a “so unreal you couldn’t have dreamt it” series of hilarious but serious events.

I was informed by a BT salesperson that the best and latest technology for phone systems within small businesses is Voice Over Internet.....READ ON

Driven Crazy by BT

Pity Poor Sue T who has  been without BT Broadband for over four weeks
BT are now saying that it is impossible for her to have broadband, even though it worked fine when it was first installed for almost six months. She has had the cables to her house replaced , several engineer visits and spent the equivalent of Days listening to BT's appalling Music-on-hold.

We have special tools to help you with BT Broadband. View BT Broadband support ... A lot of problems with BT- lines can be resolved by a few simple tests. ...

Mr. CB of Westmancoat:
Upgraded his ISDN to Broadband 3 months ago.
He was very pleased with his 1Meg connection.
After four weeks it stopped working; he was unable to send and receive email or view websites.
A visit by Warwickshire's Favourite Computer Doctor established that BT had increased the speed of his line to 2Meg. Unfortunately because of the distance to BT's  Exchange, his line could not support the speed.
After several phone calls to BT, they successfully regraded his broadband to 1 Meg which worked fine.

One week after getting it working, an idiot at BT  increased the speed again causing it to stop working
More stressful phone calls to BT to resolve the BT inflicted Fault.
This has since happened again. Twice.
Why do BT do these stupid things?
BT faults confirmed that a number of people had a similar problem with the 'Free (But Unusable) Upgrade'

A  Computer Doctors Story
Early in September 2005:
I Visited a customer in Coventry to sort out  AOL Broadband fault.
There appeared to be DNS problems with AOL I needed  to speak to AOL support.
After getting through to an AOL agent the line went dead after just one minute.
A look through the window revealed a youth sitting on the ground beside a BT cabinet with a loom of cables between his legs.
I approached him in the nicest possible way and received nothing but rudeness back. He did not admit to disconnecting our line but it was crystal clear from his attitude that this was the likely case. He said he could not deal with it until he had finished his current job of connecting a line for a neighbour. He was obviously NOT a BT employee but  a contractor. He drove a White Van, with no markings on and could have been anyone.
The
customer's line remained off for almost a week.

Warwick Buildings BT Broadband Farce

7th September 2006

Customer service at BT is failing millions of families and getting worse, according to a study published by watchdogs:
READ On  at....The Daily Mail logo

26th July 2006
It's Official. BT are the biggest employer of white van men.
It has been announced that BT now use more White Vans than any other British Company.
Many of these vans are unmarked, and driven by semi trained men,
who are  at liberty to enter any BT cabinets, to make connections, and in
the process, leave several subscribers with no service. ("Not My Problem Mate").

Ask Wigrams Turn Marina what they think of being a BR premium customer - one week after the BT phone system went off (in a thunderstorm) BT still had not sent an engineer round to fix it. When  someone did arrive - guess what - he had no spare parts with him. They had to be ordered.
This is a small 2 line telephone system.

And Can Someone Please Tell Me Why BT Broadband in Ireland is HALF
BT Broadband - Cheaper in Ireland - Why ? the Price of the same Product in this Country ?
I thought Ireland was an expensive place.

Once again the owner of this domain has to report another example of BT's unbelievable incompetence.
On the 13th December I arrived at my home in Stratford and found my phone line was dead.
Naturally my broadband was absent as well. BT informed, after testing the line remotely, that there was a BT cable fault
just outside my address. It would be repaired by 20th December. 1 week away!

I must be unreasonable because I thought this was too long.

8:00 am the following day (14th December) I was on the (cell)phone to BT again, asking what I could do
to get the line fixed quicker.

Off the phone at 8:55  and I was shocked -and relieved- to find my line was working.

The Latest Technology:-  TEXT MESSAGE UPDATES
I didn't tell BT they could text me. They didn't ask my permission.

The same goes for Nationwide Crash Repairs, who also used the technology to make themselves look idiotic.

Text messages should be reserved, in my opinion, for personal messages from your GF or your children.
I do not want my inbox full of useless irrelevant and worst of all utterly inaccurate texts from BT.

14:12:05 11.09am TEXT MESSAGE from BT
"re your fault, investigation underway, will update you when we have more information.
Get alternative web access at BT.com/fix"
Did I mention the line has been working since 09:00am, and how would I access the internet anyway if it wasn't?
14:12:05  03:05pm TEXT MESSAGE from BT
"We have located a fault in you line which needs our engineer to resolve. Will update you shortly".
Please, leave it alone.
15:12:05  8:09am TEXT MESSAGE from BT
"Fault has been dispatched to an engineer".
at about 10:00 I had a phone call from a BT engineer who told me he had found a load of faulty
broadband equipment at the exchange This, of course made a mockery of BT's cabling fault story...
15:12:05 10:19am TEXT MESSAGE from BT
We are pleased to confirm your line is back in service. Thank you for your patience.
I HAVE NO PATIENCE TO SPARE

17th December 2005:
BT to raise the cost of Line Rental again. 50p per month
(or £1.50 per quarter or £6 per year).

I don't know exactly how many extra million pounds that will bring in,
but given that the poorly trained call centre operatives in Bangalore work for a lot less than their colleagues here, it can't be a too bad thing for shareholders.
